Fraternus started in response to fatherlessness. We are a fatherly movement. And, as you know, good fathers say “no” all the time. A society lacking the virtue of fatherhood is a society where “anything goes.” And where anything goes, there are too many yesses and not enough noes.

When we say “no” to the world and what it offers us, we are rejecting the lure of the devil. As husbands, as fathers, as brothers, as sons, you and I must stand on the frontlines and say quite emphatically (and borrowing from a literary character in Tolkien), “You shall not pass!”

At Fraternus, we say ‘yes’ to Jesus Christ. If we were to propose virtue as a means of self-improvement and excellence alone, we would not be much different from pagan ethics or self-help guides. The purpose of virtue as proposed by Fraternus is reaching God. Virtue is not the end, but the means. God alone is our goal and source of life.

Your support of Fraternus is cultivating virtue in men of all ages, beginning at age 12, when young boys come to Fraternus and are invited into the brotherhood of men. This cultivation of virtue continues until death. Not only is the messaging and teaching necessary, but the context of brotherhood makes the growth in virtue and the friendship with Christ possible.
